De retour le 8 septembre | Back Home on September 8th

There we are! My trip in the UK is ending (unfortunately) on September 8th... too soon. Therefore, I'll be back home at the same time than the automn programmation of the Canadian Broadcasting corporation!
I must say that this blog will continue, to keep in touch with my friends from everywhere in the world but also to encourage political discussions and debates, as it was written in the first message I posted here. On that topic, I'll have very good news soon...
Finally, I want to thank every body I met in the last year and I really wish we could keep in touch in the future. I've appreciated very much to meet people at the School of Economics, in Prague and even in CELE. It's up to us to keep the contact alive!

Prague, Bratislava et Vienne | Prague, Bratislava and Vienna

Here I am! I came back from Prague 2 days ago. It was simply wonderful! So much to tell, but not much words to tell it... First, the course. With people from so many backgrounds, I guess it was difficult to answer all the needs. Anyway, I know more about European Union now than before the course, which is good! I come out more skeptical about the EU, too. I do think EU is good... at least in theory. But now, it seems it is just a big technocracy pushing for its own aim, without any concern about the populations composing it. A bit if the monster was controlling its complete world. Let's say I am an euro-strategy skeptic, then...

The city of Prague was amazing! People name it the New Amsterdam because it is a compulsory stop for backpackers, it is cheap and very lively... and I do agree! I did appreciate very much that city. I was surprised how an ancient communist country may have become so liberal. .. it's good... and it's working!

But all the fun I had was impossible without the gang we were. Let's just say I've met people with whom I wish I could tie strong links in the future. People, I'd like to stay in touch with.. and one person I would've liked to know better... just to see where it was going... Anyway, life is built on missed opportunities. It does make the return a bit more difficult, though. I'm sure I will forget some people, but just a quick hello to my friends: Andy from the North but without the accent, Michael my conservative friend, both Emily from Yorkshire and London, Judith and Franz-Wilhem the Vienneses, Cat and Vish my colleagues from Notts, Holly the party beast and, last but never least, Laura.

Readers might be surprised by my title. And they're right. The itinerary has changed in the middle of the trip! At the end of the course, the very last night in fact (retrospectively, I would've been better off to stay with the gang, but...), I left Prague by train to go to Bratislava the capital city of Slovakia. I arrived in Bratislava at 6am, a Sunday, all restaurants for a breakfast closed... I walked in the city and by 1pm I've already seen most of it 2 or 3 times... The point of passing by Bratislava was to go back to Vienna by boat, on the Danube river. The boat was at 5.30pm... I had one thing to do... Enjoy the exchange rate and head to a pub!

I arrived in Vienna around 7.30pm, but by the time I've found my friends Andy and Franz-Wilhem, it was already 9.30pm... The day after, Andy and I went to visit museums and the Palace of Maria Theresa. We got a lunh in a pub where the waitress wasn't speaking a word of English! Vienna was very beautiful too... with the german efficiency in addition! On the tuesday, I took a train from Vienna and 12 hours later, I was in my room of Melton Hall...
